Hänel attaches great importance to enabling its storage lifts to interface directly with customer ERP software.
For many years, Hänel’s MP 100 D and MP 12 N-HostData control systems have been supporting data communication without the need for additional middleware. An FTP server, a Windows drive release or a web service interface is all that is required for data communication between the Hänel controller and the customer’s ERP system.
The new-generation Hänel controllers can be used as operator terminals for various ERP systems. Synchronization problems, such as those stemming from redundant data storage, are prevented.
All ERP user dialogs are displayed directly on the touchscreen of the Hänel control unit. Data entries are booked in the ERP system in real time – then the storage system is actuated. The booking is executed directly in the ERP server. There is no data buffering or data conversion in the control system. This means that the storage overview and inventory status control are always updated – worldwide, regardless of the client used.
Thus Hänel storage systems can be integrated in nearly every kind of ERP environment.
The individual programming and configuration in the SAP environment can be done by our cooperation partner or by customers themselves. The user interface can be adapted on the control unit according to specific individual needs.
The logistics system in operation at Bosch in Blaichach/Immenstadt, Germany, is a perfect example of the successful integration of Hänel solutions. The company operates two Hänel Rotomat® systems located at the core of an ultra-modern Industry 4.0 production site. The Hänel systems store components for ABS and ESP systems for post-series supply and are linked with the central SAP ERP solution via SOAP interface. The Hänel Rotomat® is an outstanding intralogistics solution for storing large numbers of diverse components that are produced in small quantities. The Hänel lift systems at Bosch have ESD features to effectively safeguard sensitive electronic components.
The standard integration of the SOAP protocol ensures hassle-free connectivity between the Hänel controllers and SAP system used at Bosch – without any additional middleware.
The management solution integrated as a standard feature in the lift controllers allocates the storage positions depending on the size of the bins or boxes. “The option of sending SAP pick and put orders to the lift systems via the web service interface (SOAP) was only available from Hänel,” says Alexander Schneider, Production Planning Manager at Robert Bosch GmbH in Blaichach/Immenstadt.
The central ERP infrastructure supports global communication among all company sites. For example, thanks to the integration of the Hänel Rotomat® systems via SOAP interface, even items from remaining stocks at other sites can be requested. The entire inventory status data is available at all times and at all company locations worldwide.
Hänel specialists have gained vast experience in linking up Hänel controllers with all kinds of ERP systems via SOAP interfaces at customer sites around the world.
Many successful projects have included the middleware-free integration of Hänel lifts in ERP systems such as SAP, Navision, proAlpha®, Sage, PSI Penta, INFOR, ABAS, Epicor, Maximo and many others.
By integrating the SOAP interface in its controllers, Hänel has succeeded in making the visions of its customers a reality!
