The new DURO-A RC power chuck reduces setup times thanks to its quick jaw-change system that allows the jaws to be adjusted, reversed, or swapped out in just 50 seconds....

  • The  RÖHM DURO-A RC features quick-change capabilities that allow the operator to adjust, reverse or swap out jaws in just 50 seconds. This new power chuck has a billet-steel body whose compact profile reduces overall height by 14 percent and weight by 18 percent, resulting in a significant increase in work envelope size. Outside diameter part-size capacities range from 180 mm to 400 mm, with chuck heights measuring only 83.9 mm to 125.8 mm. The DURO-A RC’s through hole has been expanded to the 53-128 mm diameter range to accommodate modern machine sizes.

Designed to meet the needs of manufacturers as turning centers with integrated spindle motor technology become more common, the DURO-A RC power chuck unlocks the full potential of those machines. Traditional power chucks often cannot keep up with newer spindles’ rotational speeds and acceleration/deceleration rates due to the heavy weight and loss of dynamic clamping force of those chucks.

To overcome this challenge, the DURO-A RC’s billet steel body has a compact, lightweight design, with an overall height that is reduced by 14%. It boasts centrifugal force compensation that allows for fast speeds and feeds, as well as power consumption savings of up to 17 percent. The chuck’s interchangeable back plate further ensures convenient adaptability to fit to a wide range of lathe spindles.
