The ROB® System (Rotation Overspray Block) is a dry separation system developed by the Wenker company, which can be used for filtering paint aerosols from circulating paint air. It has been specially developed and designed for use in series painting. The ROB® system consists of cylindrical towers which are equipped with filter baskets. Due to the cylindrical design, the system has a large filter surface which is also space-saving. Individually configurable filter materials in the ROB® and in the corresponding 2nd filter stage allow an optimum ratio between filter service life and separation efficiency to be achieved, especially for the paint used. The ROB® tower rotates constantly, this ensures an even loading of all filters within the tower. The ROB® system is pressure controlled and guarantees a stable and cross-flow-free operation. The differential pressure monitoring of each tower gives exact information about which tower the filters have to be changed in. This avoids a high filter change rate and thus reduces filter costs. The pressure losses of the system are significantly lower compared to a classic wet scrubbing system.
The ROB® system is installed below the grating level of the paint booth and has two levels. The upper level can be divided into a separation area in the middle and two maintenance areas on the outside. The ROB® towers are installed in the separation area. The maintenance aisles allow the filter to be changed while the system is in operation, and maintenance work can also be carried out here while the painting operation is running. The ROB® system fulfils the separation function even without rotation, so that the painting process is not impaired. Likewise, no quick intervention is required in case of mechanical problems. The lower level represents the second filter stage and is accessible. Each zone has a separate extraction system.
