 Press Releases

  • Miller Electric Mfg. LLC, a leading worldwide manufacturer of Miller® brand arc welding equipment, has released the new Millermatic 355 MIG welder, an easy-to-use power source designed for fabricators and manufacturers who need to MIG weld a wide variety of materials.

The Millermatic 355 can operate on single-phase or three-phase AC power — so it works anywhere operators need it to. The machine provides MIG and pulsed MIG capabilities for mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel in thicknesses from 22 gauge to 1/2 inch.

“The new Millermatic 355 delivers power, precision, simplicity and versatility in a compact power source for more applications,” says Chris Roehl, product manager, Miller. “Plus the machine’s advanced features make it easy for welders of any skill level to be productive and get great results.”

With high amperage output and a long duty cycle, operators can make longer welds without stopping. The pulsed MIG capabilities allow operators to reduce heat input for better results on stainless steel, less risk of distortion or burn-through on thin metals, and reduced spatter on all materials — resulting in less time spent on post-weld cleanup. An industrial, four-drive-roll, wire-feed system ensures consistent delivery of all wire types and diameters at all speeds. And the Millermatic 355 is compatible with push-pull guns, for smooth feeding of aluminum wire.

The Millermatic 355 also has multiple features to help welders of all skill levels get more work done. Auto-Set™ Elite makes it quick and simple to select the right parameters to produce high-quality welds. A 7-inch LCD user interface clearly shows weld settings and displays an electronic parameter chart, making settings easy to access, fine-tune and save.

In addition, Program Mode lets welders save up to four frequently used weld processes in the machine. Each saved process can be recalled with the touch of a button, so there’s no need to dial them in manually. Trigger Program Select lets operators select any saved process at the weld joint by pulling the MIG gun trigger, so there’s no need to walk back to the power source.

Switching between single-phase and three-phase input power is easy, so operators can stay productive anywhere. Simply move the input power selector switch to the type of electricity available at the location. The Millermatic 355 has integrated running gear and an enclosed wire feeder — an all-in-one design that makes it fast and easy to move the machine around the shop or workplace. The machine can also be quickly removed from the EZ-Latch™ running gear to get it closer to the work or to integrate it into the weld cell for optimum access and efficiency.

Input power on the Dynasty 210 ranges from 120 to 480 volts and offers an amperage range of 1 to 210 amps (DC) and 2 to 210 amps (AC). The Dynasty 300 features an input power range from 208 to 600 volts and has an amperage range of 1 to 300 amps (DC) and 2 to 300 amps (AC).

  • APPLETON, Wis. (Aug. 30, 2022) — Miller Electric Mfg. LLC, Hobart Filler Metals and Tregaskiss have announced the release of the Hercules single-wire, high-deposition, automated MIG welding system. The Hercules system significantly boosts welding productivity rates without the expense of adding more automation welding cells.

The system delivers a gain of up to 30% or more in deposition rates and corresponding productivity with no loss of weld quality. Even operations that have optimized their processes and consider themselves at the forefront of high-deposition-rate welding can benefit from the Hercules system.

“With Hercules, operations can go beyond the welding productivity they thought was possible — making them more competitive and profitable,” says Seth Perrin, advanced welding product specialist, Miller. “This system sets the bar for state-of-the-art welding deposition rate.”

The Hercules welding system is ideal for medium to large manufacturing operations with robotic welding, specifically for those with long welds in the flat and horizontal welding positions. The system has been in a soft introduction phase with targeted Miller customers for several years, and Miller has worked with those customers to integrate the system.

“During the soft launch, we used customer feedback to continually improve the Hercules process to where it is today,” Perrin says. “That valued relationship and feedback made us aware of where the system was lacking and therefore, we were able to revise the process to make it more reliable and robust. We thank our loyal customers.”

Developed by Miller, Hobart and Tregaskiss, the Hercules MIG welding system combines Miller® power source and wire-feed technology, a Tregaskiss® torch and a specialized Hobart® metal-cored wire. The components include:

    • Miller power sources and Hercules drive: Auto-Continuum™ 500 and XMT® 450 power sources work together with the Hercules drive to deliver the amperage needed for the system and fast, precise wire-feeding.

    • Tregaskiss Hercules torch: The torch has dual contacts that allow two sources of power input, which are crucial for the high-deposition welding process. Created specifically for the Hercules system, the torch’s unique single-wire, water-cooled design maximizes electrical conductivity and optimizes filler metal delivery to the weld puddle.

    • Hobart FabCOR® Hercules metal-cored wire: Formulated exclusively for the Hercules system, FabCOR Hercules is the only metal-cored wire that can accommodate faster travel speeds to deliver the system’s higher deposition rates and productivity while maintaining arc stability.

Manufacturing operations can eliminate welding bottlenecks and unlock unutilized capacity with the Hercules system, all without adding more automation welding cells that require additional floor space or brick and mortar. In many cases, the system doesn’t require all-new welding automation, allowing operations to use equipment that’s already in place. The Hercules system also offers simple integration, since it’s easy to set up and install for EtherNet/IP™, DeviceNet or Analog protocols.
