  • Bystronic and NanoLock enter a partnership to jointly develop software solutions and protect systems against cyber attacks. This is a key building block for Bystronic’s smart factory vision and demonstrates the group’s dedication to pioneering new solutions for the sheet metal processing industry.

    [Zurich, April 12, 2022] – Bystronic today announces a partnership with NanoLock Security, a leading device-level cyber security provider, to co-develop state-of-the-art solutions for its sheet and tube metal cutting, bending, and automation systems. Over the past years, Bystronic has successfully developed its own Smart Factory Software Suite together with the recently acquired company Kurago. The Smart Factory Software Suite digitizes all business processes and interconnects machines with all other customer processes.

    To mitigate exposure of customer systems to potential cyber risks at these interconnections, Bystronic and NanoLock are developing new secure solutions to ensure that Bystronic smart machines are trustable data sources and also cyber secure devices. NanoLock is a well-established, experienced provider for Zero Trust, device-level cyber security solutions. The two companies will present their joint solution later this year at EuroBlech 2022.

    The ByTube Star 130 with 4kW power is the optimal solution for sheet metal processing companies that want to expand their capabilities. The automated system reduces the need for manual interventions, making entry into the field of tube processing particularly easy.

    Bystronic's ByTube Star 130 is designed for processing tube profiles with diameters between 3/8 and 5 inches and workpiece lengths up to 28 feet. Tube profiles include round, square, rectangular, oval, standard closed, and open sections. The machine has a loading capacity of 11 pounds per foot. Since 2D cutting accounts for 90 percent of the market, the 2D cutting head can process a large number of customer orders.

    One of the ByBend Smart’s flexibility-enhancing features is the “Daylight and Stroke Expansion”. This feature, which is available with the purchase of a new machine, extends the daylight and stroke from 18.9 to 22.9 inches.     Electric Lifting Aid option

    During the bending process, the “Electric Lifting Aid” option increases material handling flexibility and operator ergonomics for large parts up to 220 lbs per unit. The control synchronizes the movement of the lifting aids with the actual bending process and the vertical movement of the upper beam.

    When it comes to bending technology, simple operation is a key factor for many users.   • Bystronic ByStar Fiber Laser Cutting Machine Redefines High-Performance Innovation with 20kW Fiber 

    Speed, precision, flexibility, and versatility: Thanks to the new laser output of 20kW, the ByStar Fiber cuts steel, aluminum, and stainless steel with a thickness from 20 gauge up to 1.500 inch, and brass and copper up to .750 inch with high precision. This power and increased range of materials enable sheet metal processing companies to further expand their production capabilities.

    In order to offer sheet metal processing companies even better support in an increasingly competitive environment, Bystronic has advanced into a new dimension of fiber laser cutting with the 20kW ByStar Fiber. The high-end ByStar Fiber laser represents high-precision Bystronic technology, a reliable cutting process even at the highest laser outputs, and with a wide range of applications. 

    On average, thanks to the new 20kW laser, the cutting speed of the ByStar Fiber increases by up to 50 percent (when cutting with nitrogen) compared to a 10kW laser source. This means that sheet metal processing companies can benefit from higher productivity with relatively low unit costs. The 20kW laser output now also enables extended applications in stainless steel and aluminum up to 1.5 inch thick and thus offers maximum flexibility for customer orders. Regardless of whether cutting aluminum, non-ferrous metals, or steel, the high-performance Bystronic SSC3 cutting head excels with maximum precision in both thin and thick sheets and profiles. The variable telescoping cutting head automatically adjusts the focal length and spot size, and the focal position is set automatically for each material.

    Perfect cuts thanks to the BeamShaper

    The BeamShaper function ensures smooth cutting edges and high operational reliability across the entire range of carbon steel materials with fluctuating material characteristics to thicknesses up to 1.125 inch. This function can be selected as an option when purchasing a new 20kW ByStar Fiber or added later as an upgrade. With the BeamShaper, the beam profile is adapted for cutting thicker materials providing for smooth cutting edges and increased speeds in carbon steels from .750 to 1.125 inch.

    The new 20kW power level is available for the ByStar Model 3015, 4020, 6225, and 8025. Bystronic’s high-performance flagship utilizes the ByVision Cutting control interface via a 21.5-inch touch screen. Operating the machine is as simple as using a smartphone.

    Automation optimizes the material flow

    In order to provide an optimal material flow to the high speeds of laser cutting, Bystronic has a wide range of automation solutions available that guarantee maximum machine utilization. The offerings include loading and unloading systems, sorting solutions, and individually configurable storage systems.
