As a nonprofit organization, SME has served practitioners, companies, educators, government and communities across the manufacturing spectrum for more than 80 years. Through its strategic areas of events, media, membership, training and development, and the SME Education Foundation, SME is uniquely dedicated to the advancement of manufacturing by addressing both knowledge and skills needed for the industry. The SME ZONE is the focal point of everything happening at FABTECH. Major attractions will be hosted in the SME ZONE (Booth C11269) – and while you’re there, learn how SME can help you grow your business and advance your career.

Within the SME ZONE, you will:
- Engage with SME. Engage with SME representatives to learn more about our organization, its mission, our education foundation, member resources, and how SME can provide you the resources you need to grow your career and grow your business.
- Talk with experts. Stop by the SME Member Corner to engage with respected industry professionals who will provide real-time solutions and key information on commonly faced industry issues and topics including challenges companies face when implementing Lean manufacturing, creating a contingency plan for your business and ways to address miscommunication that can destroy an organization.
- The Tooling U-SME. Tooling U-SME will be giving out 10 free online learning and development classes to some attendees, as well as exploring workforce development opportunities. Representatives will be equipped with iPads and interacting with attendees inside the SME ZONE.
- SME Media podcast interviews. Get a sneak peak of manufacturing’s top thinkers from across every segment. SME Media will record podcasts with these industry leaders within the SME ZONE. SME Media publications will also be available inside the SME ZONE.
