  • TRUMPF will highlight the TruLaser 8000 Coil Edition at FABTECH this year. This machine can process up to 25 metric tons of coiled sheet metal without any human intervention. It is an attractive option for companies interested in flexible, high-volume solutions for sheet metal fabrication, including automotive suppliers and automakers, electrical cabinet manufacturers, elevator producers, and HVAC manufacturers.

Coil production enables more efficient nesting of parts. Conventional sheets are limited by their four outer edges, which often makes it difficult for production workers to make full use of the entire sheet. Unused sections of the sheet either must be discarded as scrap or melted down. A coil solves this problem by allowing users to nest an almost endless number of parts on the sheet, which reduces material consumption by around 15 percent. Compared to conventional blanking presses, the new system also heralds a significant reduction in construction and logistics costs. The TruLaser 8000 Coil Edition makes production more profitable by eliminating tooling costs, optimizing material use, reducing assembly costs, and boosting flexibility.

  • TRUMPF is bringing the latest generation of its TruBend 8000 Series to the North American market. With a 34-inch open height and a stroke of 27 inches, the TruBend 8000 bending machine offers a highly efficient way to bend very large parts, allowing workers to easily bend and remove workpieces that require a large box height. The press brake is available with numerous optional extras designed to facilitate the bending of heavy parts. These features include a bending aid that makes operators’ lives easier by automatically positioning the workpiece for bending.

Starting with a press force of 440 tons all the way to 1,100 tons, this new generation of machines is an efficient powerhouse that has no trouble processing long, thick pieces of sheet metal. The machine is also suitable for bending high-tensile materials such as Hardox or Weldox engineering steels. Station bending is another option available with the TruBend 8000. By moving workpieces from one station to the next, each equipped with different upper and lower tools, workers can tackle a range of parts and bending operations without having to change the machine setup for each operation. This makes the TruBend 8000 particularly suitable for companies that bend large parts in small batches, including fabricators in the vehicle manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and building-services sectors. This model is also a great choice for general-purpose work in job shops.

  • “Oseon” software can help create significantly leaner production processes and make major gains in productivity. The software includes a range of new options for managing the transportation of materials in a flexible and automated fashion. Oseon also offers production workers a clear display of all relevant production data directly within their work environment.

Oseon is a great choice for any sheet-metal fabricator looking to boost the competitiveness of their production activities. The software can be used on shop floors where digital connectivity is still in its infancy as well as in fully-fledged smart factories, and it delivers real benefits whatever the size of the company. Thanks to its open interfaces, the software is also suitable for users who want to integrate machines from other suppliers into their fully networked production in addition to TRUMPF machines.

  • TRUMPF has launched a new part separation tool that makes work easier for companies with highly productive 2D laser cutting machines. The TruTool PS 100 part separator tool removes small parts quickly and easily from the scrap skeletons of processed sheets.

Once small parts are cut out on flatsheet laser cutting machines, they remain connected to the sheet’s scrap skeleton by small cross beams, also called tabs or joints.  To release the components, operators often use a hammer or similar tool. This method can be time-consuming, tedious, and risks operator injury as well as potential damage to the parts.

To prevent damage to parts as they are removed, the TruTool PS 100’s rubberized hammer tips can be customized to meet different requirements. A medium-hard hammer tip is used as standard. It is primarily suitable for mild steel and medium sheet thicknesses. The optional soft hammer tip ensures careful handling of aluminum and non-ferrous metal parts. A third option, the hard hammer tip, increases impact intensity and creates advantages in thicker sheet metal and high strength materials.

  • Edgeline Bevel is an option available on the TRUMPF 2D laser-cutting machines. It is a technology that allows for the laser to create bevel edges, rounded edges, and countersinks in mild steel. Fabricators typically perform these processes using a milling machine, grinding machine or angle grinder – an additional step that is both cumbersome and time-consuming. With Edgeline bevel, this can all be handled during the cutting process in a single operation.
