Michael Huot is the owner of Huot Welding Inc. and provides services for welding challenges; he has 36 years of experience in the welding business. A recent project Michael Huot fondly remembers was working on the Alexandria Bay REDI project, located on the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands, NY.
"We used Bohler's FOX EV 50 product, the basic coated stick electrode for high quality welded joints, for all docks on the Scenic View Park Wharf renovation. The restoration of the wharf and support piers was done by myself and Chris Smith, we are both NYS certified welders," he says.
The expectations for FOX EV 50 were high. Michael Huot emphasizes, "We always strive for excellence and outstanding weldability on the job." The primary challenges the two welding technology specialists faced were the weather conditions, which were difficult to assess. "They are by far the biggest challenge. Especially because this job was on the border of Canada and we use standard preheat and postheat."
When asked what advantages he noticed as an expert during the welding work, he answers without hesitation: "The Fox EV 50 has excellent welding properties and allows for easy slag removal." To the point: "Even a bad welder would look good by using Fox EV 50! The product is also easy to clean. You really notice how good it is when you're out of position."
Michael Huot and his team received valuable support from Mark Yaple, Bohler's Territory Sales Manager, adding that "He always had all the information we needed at hand and was a real support for this project."
