We will be displaying a new high-capacity compact press feed system in our booth D41318 at the Fabtech show in Chicago. The end user is a global leader in and major manufacturer of off-the-road tires and wheels. The line was sold through our local distributor Paul Andrews of AMP Machinery Systems. The 24” wide compact feed line consists of a combination straightener/feeder with hold-down peeler station and a motorized stock reel and can process CRS up to 0.375” thick at full width in coils weighing up to 15,000 lb.
The straightener/feeder is a model HD24-64SF with (7) 4” diameter backed-up straightener rolls and (4) 6” diameter powered pinch rolls, powered upper roll adjustment, (2) sets of handwheel-adjusted edge guides, powered pass line height adjustment, our “Consolidated Controls” package with full-color touchscreen HMI, and a secondary encoder pinch roll assembly. The entry hold-down peeler station includes hydraulic powered hold-down arm with powered wheel, and hydraulic powered peeler table with our coil breaker clamp arm to facilitate hands-free thread-up when paying off the top or the bottom of the coil.
The stock reel has a secondary coil clamping arm for added safety during thread-up, powered side guide roller type coil keepers, interlocking saw-tooth drum mandrel segments, a high-capacity spring-set safety brake, and dual payoff modes: paddle loop for heavier gauge coils and slack loop mode off the back of the coil for lighter gauge materials.
The combination upender/coil car can reorient coils from an eye-to-the-sky position to a horizontal one to load onto the stock reel mandrel.
