  Fort Collins, CO — Forney Industries will showcase two of their largest MIG welding machines at FABTECH 2023. The Forney 242 Dual MIG and the Forney 270 MIG provide a cutting-edge welding solution designed to enhance welding versatility, ease of use, wire feeding, and overall performance.

  The Forney 242 Dual MIG welding machine stands out for its remarkable versatility, enabling effortless welding of both aluminum and steel with a simple flip of a switch. Eliminating the need for multiple machines and streamlining the welding process to save valuable time and effort.  

  Jason Mahugh, Director of Engineering and Technical Services at Forney Industries, addressed the versatility of the Forney 242 Dual MIG welding machine. “This machine has two gas inlets, two gas solenoids, and a switchable output which allows the use of a spool gun to weld aluminum or a traditional MIG gun to weld steel. The steel MIG setup can use standard 8” or 12” spools of solid steel wire.” 

  The Forney 242 Dual MIG also has an extended power cord and longer gun cables creating a larger working envelope and less movement of the machine. “The gas hoses are long enough so the bottles can be secured near the power outlet rather than being transported on

  the machine reducing the weight and bulk of the machine so it’s easier to move around, when necessary. Forney also offers an Optional Dual Cylinder Trolley if you prefer having cylinders near the machine,” said Mahugh.

  This machine is easy to use with its simple controls and dials. Mahugh adds, “The Forney 242 Dual MIG is designed to help save time in the workplace. The spot-weld timer and knob allows the user to spot or stitch weld consistently. There’s a dial to control the wire feed speed and a switch to select the appropriate transformer tap setting. It also has the ability to adjust the wire feed speed on the spool gun so finding the “sweet spot” is quick and easy.” It’s important for consumers to have a machine that can weld a variety of thicknesses too.  “This machine is robust with capabilities for welding the thinnest sheet metal up to thick plate where it can spray transfer .035” wire increasing deposition rates and providing spatter-free welds.”

  The Forney 270 MIG welder is designed to excel in a wide range of applications, from general fabrication to light industrial projects. This machine is MIG-ready with 270 amps of output power for heavy-duty performance and power. It features a 15-foot lead and a 15-foot power cord for a larger working envelope.

  Welding with this machine is hassle-free, thanks to its Euro Connect Torch with TWECO-style consumables and a digital meter that provides easy setup. The Forney 270 MIG welder features an upgraded cast aluminum wire drive system, dual geared idler and drive roll for better wire feeding.
