  • Today, we want to take a closer look to two deep drawing methods.
    Let's explore:
    Variant A: Deep drawing with draw cushion
    In deep drawing with draw cushion a flat sheet of metal is placed in a mold and pressed into the mold by a punch.
    The draw cushion, which is located between the stamp and the sheet, creates a counterpressure to pull the sheet into the mold and produce complex three-dimensional parts.
    The part is produced with the opening facing downwards. (Hat position)
    Variant B: Deep drawing with a double-acting ram.
    In deep drawing with a double-acting ram without a draw cushion, the flat sheet is placed between a movable ram and a fixed die.
    The (outer) ram presses the sheet firmly onto the outer edge of the die, and the inner ram presses the sheet into the die.
    The part is produced with the opening facing upwards. (Tub position)

    By flipping the deep drawing process, Variant A positions the flat surface on top (Hat position), allowing for easier handling and ensuring smooth product transfer.
    Energy-efficient and deeper drawing of parts are advantages of the Variant B compared to Variant A.

The relevant parameters are in the field of tension and include a large number of technical as well as business aspects.

    How you can analyze your forming process with the Lauffer process data analysis and thus optimize it in a targeted manner.

    Forming processes include many physical parameters that influence among other things product quality, machine energy efficiency and tool lifetime. Traditionally, however, these parameters are usually only considered in retrospect and iteratively adjusted for future production batches. As a result, an optimization of the forming process requires a lot of time, so that a relevant improvement is only noticeable after numerous production batches.

    In order to accelerate this process and optimize the parameters in a more targeted manner, LAUFFER has developed an inline process diagnosis. This function allows the operator to examine each stroke on the user interface in detail and also to compare it with all strokes from the past. This means that the parameters can be changed during the ongoing production batch and the influence on the component can be evaluated directly. The findings enable shorter iteration loops and thus faster optimization of the entire production.

    • Exporting the recordings in PDF format
