  • GTG22 THOR
The GTG22 THOR is a groundbreaking high-accessibility turbine grinder that redefines excellence in the world of power tools. The reduced height over spindle keeps the vibration and sound levels to a minimum. GTG22 THOR stands in a class of its own....

  • Features
    • Power. The 3.1 horsepower motor in the GTG22 tool allows operators to get through work faster, reducing the labor cost of grinding.
    • Power-to-Weight Ratio. At only 4.2 lbs. the GTG22 has the highest power-to-weight ratio in its weight class.
    • Auto-Balancer. The auto-balancer compensates for irregularities in a grinding wheel. There are two advantages to using an auto-balancer:
    • Lower vibration. Offset in the grinding wheel will cause additional centrifugal force, and additional vibration. By compensating for the offset, we reduce the centrifugal force.
    • Longer wheel life. Vibration will cause the tool to "bounce" or "chatter", which has a negative impact on wheel life.
    • Low Vibration. The new compact design coupled with the auto-balancer allows the GTG22 to run very smooth with minimal vibration.
    • Low Noise. The turbine motor in the GTG22 generates significantly less noise than a traditional vane motor, both at free speed and during use.
    • Lubrication Free Motor. The GTG22 motor is designed to run without lubrication, eliminating another potential tool quality issue such as unfilled lubricators.
    • Redesigned Handle. The handle has been designed with a thinner profile, reduced angle and rubber diamond grip making it more comfortable for the operator.
    • Side Air Exhaust. The air exhaust has been improved with comfort in mind. The side vents keep the air from blowing debris directly at the operator.
    Applications
The GTG22 is most used in applications where significant material removal is being done with a need for high accessibility, for example foundries specializing in complicated castings, or manufacturing of large off-road and mining equipment. Two common applications are listed below.

    Welding / Blending
The most common application for the GTG22 is the blending and smoothing of welds following a welding operation. Every weld will leave a raised bead that needs to be ground down and "blended" back into the rest of the work piece. The compact size and weight of the GTG22 make it an easy tool to manipulate compared to large and heavy vertical grinders.

    Foundries / Castings
The GTG22 is a popular tool for finishing castings at foundries. When iron, steel, and aluminum components come out of molds, they have "flash" or extra material that needs to be removed from the part before it can be shipped. The high removal rate of the GTG22 allows foundries to finish more parts per shift, increasing profitability.
