• MAZAK OPTONICS RELEASES AFFORDABLE LASER FORMAT, OPTIPLEX Ez (Jul 15, 2024)

  Mazak Optonics Corp. has diversified its range of 2D industrial laser metal-cutting machine offerings by introducing OPTIPLEX Ez, an affordable solution suited for first-time buyers.

  OPTIPLEX Ez is available in 4kW and 6kW power options, plus 3015 and 4220 machine size options. The machine achieves optimal part quality when cutting thin to medium thickness material.

  Ez integrates affordability with the accessible design of Mazak's flagship flat sheet laser, the OPTIPLEX NEO. Large doors on the front and side of the machine minimize work area restrictions by offering complete access to the cutting table for easy loading and unloading of material.

  The next-generation MAZATROL Smoothlx CNC is designed with new operators in mind and is simple to operate with minimal training. Featuring a 21.5-inch touchscreen display, the control provides a comprehensive view and intuitive control of machine functions. One-touch operation allows quick access to necessary information regarding machine status, programming details, cut conditions, and assist functions.

  OPTIPLEX Ez is equipped with several intelligent functions, including Automatic Nozzle Changer and Nozzle Centering Camera. The Automatic Nozzle Changer command performs nozzle replacement by automatically selecting the appropriate nozzle for each laser-cutting job while prioritizing reduced assist gas consumption. The Nozzle Centering Camera function provides visibility of nozzle location while manual adjustments are made on the torch. Intelligent setup, monitoring, and cutting functions available on the Ez machine support optimal laser-cutting performance.

• MAZAK OPTONICS RELEASES LARGER AND MORE POWERFUL FLAT SHEET LASER FORMAT, OPTIPLEX4220 NEO 20kW (Jul 15, 2024)

  Mazak Optonics Corp. has expanded the machine configurations available on the OPTIPLEX NEO 2D laser-cutting product line.

  The OPTIPLEX NEO is now available in a larger and more powerful format. Previously available in the 3015 machine size with 4kW, ?kW, 10kW, and 15kW power options. Mazak's OPTIPLEX NEO is now available in the larger 4220 machine size and powerful 20kW power level option to accommodate high-power cutting of larger material.

  Mazak's OPTIPLEX NEO laser-cutting machines allow control of beam shape and beam diameter. The machines automatically adjust beam diameter to optimally cut various materials and beam shape to control the concentration and power density of the laser beam.

  Equipped with large front and side access doors, OPTIPLEX NEO offers accessibility and ease of operation. Minimized work area restrictions make loading material and unloading finished parts easier.

  The MAZATROL Smoothlx CNC control features a large 21.5" screen and touch panel. Dual monitors allow multiple applications to run simultaneously. Additionally, the CNC control rotates giving operators the flexibility to work at the front or side of the machine.

  Mazak's OPTIPLEX NEO is equipped with several Intelligent Functions, including Nozzle Changer, Nozzle Centering Camera, and Camera Assisted Part Nesting. • MAZAK OPTONICS EXHIBITS AT FABTECH ORLANDO 2024 (Jul 15, 2024)

  Mazak Optonics Corporation will exhibit at the largest metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing event in North America, FABTECH, on October 15 – 17, 2024, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

• AFFORDABLE AUTOMATION FOR LASER CUTTING (Jul 15, 2024)

  Mazak’s SMART CELL is a 6-axis robot that utilizes interchangeable magnetic and suction cup grippers to sort laser-cut parts, load raw material, and remove remnant material. The magnetic heads are used to pick and place mild steel parts while the suction cup grippers are ideal for material that is not magnetic, like stainless and aluminum. 

  SMART CELL can be customized to accommodate the needs of most shop environments. The sorting system is available in multiple size and payload options to sort a wide range of geometry, with the base design featuring a small 20’ x 20’ footprint.

  Ideal for first-time automation users, SMART CELL offers an easy-to-use interface. SMART CELL utilizes Mazak’s SMART SYSTEM software to identify the location of each part based on cutting data from the laser. A drag-and-drop feature simplifies programming the robot to unload laser-cut parts in specified positions and arrangements. SMART CELL is the perfect solution for production environments running similar or repetitive jobs. The software’s ease of use also makes it a great solution for job shops running multiple parts of different nests.

  Compatible with Mazak’s flat sheet laser-cutting machines, SMART CELL can be integrated as a standalone solution or with automated storage towers for continuous production. Integrating storage tower solutions with SMART CELL allows the automation tower to load/unload material while the robot unloads finished parts for faster run times. The K-Series Tower (KST) solution is one of the many automation options compatible with Mazak’s SMART CELL robot. KST is fully customizable and does not require a lot of additional space as it sits above the laser bed to load and unload material. With KST, fabricators can have up to 20 shelves and can integrate a second tower to maximize material storage.
