 Press Releases

  • Since 1997, OTOS produced the world's first product with a graphic on the auto darkening welding helmet, OTOS has made history in the field of eye protective equipment industry.
It has continued to create new technology such as InfoTrack, X-Mode, HDV (High Definition View Technology) lens and has created numerous products that combine with reliability and convenience.
In addition to the world-recognized CHAMELEON auto darkening welding helmet series, OTOS has developed the ACE series and AEGIS, which are recognized as the world's best technology and design, and has been praised as the world's leading producer of auto darkening welding helmet.
This is a result of OTOS' corporate philosophy of creative spirit, pursuit of excellence, and attitude of service that pervades all OTOS team.
OTOS, which has introduced a variety of products, is not satisfied with the present and will make more efforts to develop high-quality products which are more safe and more convenient.
  • OTOS has achieved a Grand Slam in three of the world's most prestigious design awards: the iF and reddot awards in Germany and the IDEA awards in the United States.
A Grand Slam means winning all three design awards simultaneously in a given year, which is an industry first in the 100-year history of the World Safety Protective Equipment Awards.
As global awards, they are known for their rigorous judging criteria, and each award is judged on innovation, aesthetic excellence, marketability, functionality, production efficiency, and emotional content.
This is the result of the development of the auto darkening welding helmet based on the slogan that we will not manufacture or sell a product unless it is the best in the world, and we will continue to work to ensure that it remains the best in the world.

  • OTOS' success in the industry of producing eye protective equipment that is safe, comfortable and unique is due to the fact that we are constantly looking for new ideas from OTOS employees and working hard to develop them into products.
The company's commitment to new ideas is evident in the way it organizes a suggestion system to generate new ideas and then turn them into products. In this atmosphere, the "brains of OTOS" are encouraged to think outside the box and take on the challenges of the times.
As a result, we have launched WG3+ (3rd Generation Welding Camera Helmet), WG4+ (4th Generation Welding Camera Helmet), and WGC-200, WGC-400 (Welding Camera), which pioneer a new generation of products that will change the history of welding.
  • "The Smart Factory Support Project is a typical public-private partnership program. At Samsung Electronics, there are currently 200 manufacturing experts dedicated to this activity. The ultimate goal is a smart factory tailored to the company.

Park Joon-ha, head of Samsung Electronics' Smart Factory Support Center Operations Team, said this on Thursday during a booth tour at COEX in Seoul's Samseong-dong, where the Smart Business Expo 2022 was held. The Smart Biz Expo is being held through the 7th as part of Samsung Electronics' flagship CSR program to support the construction of smart factories.

During the booth tour, visitors were able to see first-hand examples of smart factory support for SMEs that have enhanced their competitiveness through joint technology development with Samsung Electronics. OTOS, a company that develops welding products, aims to commercialize the world's first third-generation welding camera helmet that can check the arc welding in real time with bright images using image processing technology next year. Samsung Electronics' organic light-emitting diode (OLED) lens technology will be used.

"Until now, the liquid crystal display (LCD) was installed to defend the welding light, but it was able to adjust the center level equally in real time whether it was dark or bright," said an official from OTOS. "The third generation welding camera helmet shows not only the arc light, but also the surrounding area, and this function is a lens that Samsung has passed on to us."

At the opening ceremony later in the day, Samsung Electronics President In-Yong Lee said, "Samsung is comprehensively supporting market development, human resource training and technology development based on smart factory support projects to build a sustainable management system for SMEs, which are the foundation of the Korean economy."

  • WGC-200 Welding Camera
WGC-200 provides clear image of the arc, the molten pool and the surrounding area and possible to monitor the arc welding, inspect the weld quality and when the camera is mounted on a robot or carriage, it is easy to implement welding automation....

  • After five years of research and development, OTOS has completed the development of a welding camera. During arc welding, the developed welding camera is able to provide a very clear image of the arc, the molten pool and the surrounding area. This clear image makes it possible to monitor the arc phenomenon and inspect the weld quality, and when the camera is mounted on a robot or carriage, it is very easy to implement welding automation.

Until recently, many attempts have been made around the world to realize Smart Factory for arc welding processes. However, it has been very difficult to realize Smart Factory for arc welding because no camera has been developed that can overcome the intense brightness of the arc and clearly capture all parts of the arc, the behavior of the molten pool, and the surrounding area.

Major companies in Korea's shipbuilding, heavy industry, automotive, electronics, and other industries have begun to implement welding automation by using OTOS welding cameras in their production facilities. OTOS has also developed a real-time AI-based image processing program that can acquire weld quality information from video images to automate welding for various arc welding applications.

Examples of arc welding automation solutions (camera + image processing program + automation device) developed include plasma pipe welding automation, GTA pipe welding automation, and FCAW welding automation of rear panel modules.

OTOS offers two types of welding cameras to minimize interference from nearby jig when installing the camera in the field. The WGC-200 Welding Camera measures 30 x 40 x 104 mm (152 g) and the WGC-400 Welding Camera measures 50 x 58 x 83 mm (274 g). Both cameras have the same 1920 x 1080 resolution. The difference between the two cameras is that the WGC200 is a camera which transmits video information over the wire, while the WGC-400 Welding Camera is the camera which can transmit video information over the wire and Wi-Fi simultaneously.
Therefore, when using the WGC-400 Welding Camera, users can clearly view the arc welding behavior on their mobile phones, store in the server, and monitor in the screen in real time.
