  • MetalForming Introduces Boeckelt Smart Storage and Inventory Management System

    Reduces set-up time. Increases productivity and machine uptime. Lowers operating costs.

    10.1.18

    PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – How much more efficient would your shop be if you always knew where every bit of inventory was, from blanks to remnants to parts in process? In a hyper-competitive world where the most efficient shop is also often the most successful, the Boeckelt Storage and Inventory Management System has no peer. Every aspect has been engineered to optimize operations and increase machine uptime.

    MetalForming Inc. is delighted now to be able to bring this revolutionary tracking and storage system to the precision fabrication industry in North America.

    Most other solutions on the market go after flat sheet storage alone. What Boeckelt delivers is not only condensed flat sheet storage but storage of virtually any shape on cassettes (or smart racks) that are electronically tagged so that forklift operators, machine operators or anyone on the local area network will know where that material is, and where it needs to go next.

    When an operator at a folder, for example, needs material for his next operation, he simply scans the bar code for that job. That will activate a light on the Boeckelt Tower cassette, alerting a forklift operator to exactly where he needs to go, and the software on the industrial PC on his forklift tells him where to take it.

    Cassettes can be loaded or unloaded from either side. While machine jobs are being supplied on one side, the Boeckelt depallitizer can organize new material for reloading cassettes on the other.

    And for precision shops, the advantages don’t stop there.

    “One of the enormous advantages we have when you talk about the Boeckelt exchange towers,” said David Prokop, executive vice president of MetalForming, “is the ability to feed multiple profiling systems from a single point with a single person and enormous flexibility.

    “Be it a laser, a punch, a router or whatever, we have the ability to position our tower with the crane attached and a vacuum lift to reach multiple systems with just one operator. You can save headcount in a big way and still keep these processing machines humming.”

    And it’s not just for new blanks or parts in process. An operator can also enter remnant materials into the system, store them on a cassette and then reintegrate remnants into the production process, making sure you get the maximum use out of all your material.

    “It’s complete management of work-in-process for a precision shop,” said Prokop. “And our inventory software can tie into any inventory management system – ERP or MRP – that a company uses, so everything stays connected to the mother ship.”

    The Boeckelt system is modular and enormously flexible. It was engineered to eliminate damage in material handling and to adapt to shops of any size. Cassettes can be adjusted to accommodate a wide variety of materials, and there are long goods racks for rods and other similar material.

    More than 1,000 businesses worldwide, and particularly throughout Europe, have incorporated the Boeckelt Tower and inventory management system to make their operations leaner and more productive. Testimonials to its reliability and cost-saving efficiencies are abundant. To find out more about what others are saying about Boeckelt intelligent storage, please call us at 770-631-0002.

  • MetalForming Delivers Unmatched Accuracy with CoastOne Press Brakes

    All-electric ball screw-driven design lowers costs, increases quality and efficiency

    10.1.18

    PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – In its continuing quest to provide the absolute finest sheet metal fabricating machines to precision fabricators, MetalForming, Inc. is pleased to introduce in North America the full line of CoastOne press brakes, made in Finland.

    The CoastOne difference boils down to three signature advantages over other press brakes: accuracy, lower operational costs and greater productivity.

    CoastOne’s signature all-electric servo motors directly drive high precision, high tonnage ball screws that give all CoastOne press brakes the ability to achieve unmatched levels of accuracy. We’re talking .000079 of an inch. That is accuracy to the micron level.

    The flexible C-series, with daylight options to 31.5” (800mm) and bending to 63” (1600mm), is ideal for shops that have been running small parts on large press brakes. It makes production of those parts faster, more accurate and more efficient.

    “There are so many shops that run small parts on big press brakes, which raises concerns about safety and efficiency,” said David Prokop, MetalForming’s executive vice president. “There is not a shop in the country that wouldn’t benefit from having one or two of the smaller CoastOne C-level machines to bend all their handheld sized parts.

    “When you do that, those smaller parts are formed faster, more accurately, more efficiently, and more safely than is the case on the big hydraulic machines. And when those big machines are freed from having to run all those small parts, their efficiency goes up as well.”

    The CoastOne G-series offers bending for lengths up to 160” (4080mm), driven by up to six ball screws. A key advantage is the O-frame design on all G-Series brakes, which means less deflection.

    “On longer spans, with C-frame designs, you get more deflection. That’s why CoastOne came up with the G-series O-Frame press brakes,” said Prokop. “In the G-series, the O-frame design has less vertical and horizontal deflection than a conventional C-frame design, with better control over what little deflection remains. And it’s supported by multiple servo-driven ball screws that crown and bend simultaneously, eliminating the need for additional crowning systems.

    “For thinner gauge, tightly complex parts where any deflection would throw error into that part’s accuracy, our ability to precisely control the penetration of the punch across the entire bending length will absolutely provide superior bending results.”

    There’s also the CoastOne Bull series, another O-frame design. The Bull 15 is a short-bed machine with a maximum length of 63” (1,600mm) and a hefty 160 tons of bending power. It is the ideal machine for shorter, thicker parts.

    All CoastOne brakes feature user-friendly operator controls so that even a novice operator will be making perfect parts the same day. There’s also complete flexibility in tooling styles and careful attention to ergonomic design and work lighting, so operators can be comfortable and maintain their focus over a long shift. LazerSafe guarding and production solutions including Bend Speed Management, Dynamic Angle Control, and Active Angle Control round out the many benefits CoastOne offers.

     Moreover, unlike hydraulic brakes, CoastOne press brakes only consume power when they’re actually working, making them less expensive to run. And, being all electric, they eliminate the expensive oil changes, spare parts, valves and maintenance expenses common to hydraulic press brakes.

  • If you want the absolute best in folding technology and performance, look no further than the Jorns TwinMatic totally automated bender, a revolutionary combination of engineering and computer automation. Program your part, insert your blank and get out of the way. The dual bending beams bend parts both up and down, and parts are finished with astonishing accuracy and speed.

    The CP200 touch screen control enables part design with state-of-the-art drawing software and a parts database to help guarantee you are creating the most accurate parts. And once you have designed the profile, test its implementation with a bending simulation program. The program also highlights any potential collisions. Another of many unique features is the programmable air gap, which, depending on the operating cycle, adapts automatically to sheet thickness. It’s another efficiency to increase throughput, and it’s representative of the adaptability required to accommodate a wide range of products. When it comes to forming sheet metal parts, no one bends better than Jorns.

  • Krasser Centurio
    The world’s first fully automated coil processing system....

  • The Centurio is the world’s first fully automated sheet metal cutting, coil handling and warehousing system. The entire coil processing operation has been automated – from changing coils to setting knives, to simultaneously feeding slitters and rollformers. Push the start button, and in less than two minutes, coils have been selected and moved into position, knives have been changed and set, machines have started running, pieces have been slit-to-width and cut-to-length and rollforming panels have been produced – all with little operator involvement and a massive reduction in scrap.

    A Centurio system will:
    Dramatically improve the quality of metal cutting at your shop;

    Enable you to reduce your manpower costs and triple production output;

    Cut coil changeover time to less than two minutes;

    Assure that you will always know exactly how much metal coil inventory is on hand,
    because every coil is weighed with every use and the results are automatically
    entered into a material database.
