    Osborn Announces New Patents Pending
    for its TufBrush™ Lineup of Stringer Bead Wire Brushes
    Visitors to FABTECH 2018 will be introduced to Osborn’s industry-leading material removal
    capabilities in a long life brush that saves time and money for welders and fabricators.
    ATLANTA, GA. — Osborn will present its expanded lineup of patent pending TufBrush™ wire
    brushes, which increase productivity and profitability by removing more material over a longer
    period, at FABTECH 2018 from Nov. 6-8 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
    “FABTECH is North America’s largest metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing event, so
    it’s the perfect opportunity for Osborn to announce that we have new patents pending on the
    design of our innovative TufBrush products. We engineered our carbon steel and stainless-steel
    brushes to make them aggressively remove more material but also last up to twice as long as
    competitors' brushes,” said Justin Sieb, product manager at Osborn.
    Osborn improved its brush technology by staggering the wire knots. Osborn also re-engineered
    the brush design to dampen vibration. The TufBrush product line features Osborn’s proprietary
    TufWire™, a specially designed wire that offers increased rigidity and aggressiveness. TufBrush
    4-, 5- and 6-inch brushes also feature a new knot design that allows for more wire on the work
    surface and an increased wire density that provides consistency and longer life.
    “The patentable breakthrough is the staggered trim and its effect on long brush life and fast
    cutting” Sieb said. “Our TufBrush product line provides the most optimal cleaning and brushing
    operations. They’re now better than our previous versions.”
    Welders and fabricators using TufBrush products can save as much as 37 percent compared to
    the cost of other stringer bead wire brushes, Sieb said.
    “Longer-lasting TufBrush wire brushes save time and money because welders and fabricators
    will need to stop working to replace them less often,” Sieb said. “Shops also will need to stock
    fewer brushes, opening up space in the shop or truck for other tools. As a business, they will
    spend less time ordering replacement brushes or visiting the distributor, so they can focus on
    getting more work done.”
    TufBrush stringer bead brushes are used for weld cleanup applications, including root and hot
    pass, surface preparation, deburring and pipe joining. The entire TufBrush product line excels at removing bead scale, slag, spatter and oxidation.
