Denton, Texas – ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has announced its most interactive trade show ever, featuring the “ESAB University” learning experience and more than 20 live demonstrations and hands-on opportunities in booth C12574 at FABTECH Expo 2018, Georgia World Congress Center, Nov. 6 – 8.
ESAB University features in-booth educational sessions by welding experts and digital media personalities Jody Collier (Welding Tips and Tricks), Bob Moffatt (Weld.com) and Ian Johnson (Big Tire Garage). Topics include tube welding and welding of complex joints (Nov. 6, 11 – noon), selecting the right TIG welding filler metal (Nov. 6, 3 – 4 p.m.) and how to weld 5G pipe with a TIG root and MIG fill and cap (Nov. 7, 11 – noon). FABTECH attendees can register online for special VIP seating, with approximately 20 winners randomly selected for each session. ESAB will notify winners on October 22. Standing room is also available.
Collier, Moffatt and Johnson will also participate in a roundtable discussion on industry trends and hot topics with Arc Junkies podcast host Jimmy McKnight on Nov. 7 from 3 – 4 p.m. Arc Junkies will podcast live from the booth every day from 10 – 11 a.m., and visitors are encouraged to drop by.

ESAB invites visitors to its inside booth location to personally try a heavy-industrial system for MIG and pulsed MIG aluminum and use Rebel™ welders for MIG, MIG aluminum, TIG aluminum, Flux-Cored, Stick and DC TIG welding. A station for oxy-fuel and manual plasma cutting also features a daily, combined process cutting contest offering a Victor® Medalist cutting outfit for the fastest time.
Live demonstrations include plasma beveling using the iSeries and DMX Automated Plasma Beveller, ESAB Digital Solutions and HKS WeldQAS (quality assurance system) for weld data monitoring and analysis, Columbus® III cutting software, a pressure vessel welding system featuring the patented ICE™ submerged arc process and automated TIG welding solutions from AMI, an ESAB brand. ESAB’s filler metal experts will staff a knowledge bar to help visitors with filler metal selection and process optimization, offering a hard copy of ESAB’s Welding Filler Metal Data Book to those who visit.
It its outside location, located less than 100 feet from the main booth, an Extreme Challenge Area lets visitors can put ESAB equipment, filler metals and their skills to extreme tests. Challenges include TIG welding (best bead), duty cycle (longest bead), root pass welding (TIG root, Stick cap) and Flux-Cored vertical up, plus opportunities for exothermic cutting. ESAB will also hold a plasma I-beam cutting contest, offering a Victor EDGE™ 2.0 Journeyman Outfit to the person with the fastest cut time. Other. Results will be featured (with permission) on ESAB social media.
All those who participate in challenge or experience a demonstration can register for ESAB’s daily prize drawing where the winner can choose a Rebel™ EMP 215ic or a Thermal Dynamics® Cutmaster® 60i. The drawing will be held daily at 4 p.m. on Nov. 6, 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 9. Winners must be present.
