Large welders, often operated with conventional AC controls, are very energy inefficient and cause a severe drag on the power line. It provides a balanced load on the three-phase factory power line that is typically 45% more efficient. The current consumption is almost halved compared to conventional, single-phase AC controls operating the same transformer.
The new assembly makes the process virtually immune from power line fluctuations, providing increased weld strength and quality. It also has higher reliability and easy serviceability, which are important factors in high value welding operations where downtime can be very expensive.
