Impossible Objects (IO) has developed a new Composite Based Additive Manufacturing technology (CBAM) for making high-performing, fiber-reinforced composite end use parts, prototypes and tooling.  The advantages are faster build speed, higher part strength, and a large palette of usable materials.  Build speed is multiple times faster than other AM technologies and is projected to rival injection molding speed.  Parts are up to 2 to 10 times stronger than other polymeric AM technologies with the potential for significant increases.  CBAM works with many types of fiber substrates – including carbon fiber, aramid and fiberglass – and a wide range of polymer matrixes.  Due to their superior strength-to-weight ratio properties, CBAM parts are ideal for applications in the automotive, aviation, aerospace, defense and other industries.  The CBAM technology has been validated through proof points such as endorsement from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and paying customers in the aerospace and automotive industries.
