(PSI), and leading provider of metal additive manufacturing (AM) solutions, announced today that it has joined the Alliance for the Development of Additive Processing Technologies (ADAPT) to expand adoption of its Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM®) technology in aerospace and other sectors.

    Headquartered at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO, ADAPT is an industry-academia consortium that advances data informatics and characterization technologies to Optimize processes, materials, and parts for Additive. A barrier to AM process qualification that ADAPT is excited to work on, in collaboration with Sciaky, is the lack of fundamental understanding about how the process variables effect material microstructure and final part properties.

(PSI), and leading provider of metal additive manufacturing (AM) solutions, announced today that a prominent Southeast Asian aerospace parts manufacturer has purchased a dual-purpose Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM®) and EB Welding System. The one-of-a-kind hybrid machine will be customized with special controls to switch from 3D printing to welding in a quick and easy process. The manufacturer, who wishes to remain anonymous for competitive reasons, will utilize the system to 3D print metal structures, as well as weld dissimilar materials and refractory alloys for these structures and other aerospace parts.

    KTM’s founder is Trent Mackenzie, a metallurgist with over 40 years of experience in foundry, forging and heat treatment operations, having held senior management positions with Sandvik, Outokumpu, Special Metals and ATI.  In 2015, Mackenzie took his knowledge of corrosive resistant alloys and launched KTM Consultants, with an emerging focus on additive manufacturing.
