Roboze 3D printing technology for super polymers and composites helps the world's manufacturing companies make their production processes more efficient and develop cutting-edge products.

In particular, the Production Series, was developed to produce large and medium custom parts directly on site.

ARGO 500 is the first 3D printer for super polymers and composites equipped with the Roboze Automate technological ecosystem, which brings industrial automation to 3D printing. Thanks to the combination of hardware, advanced sensors, B&R PLC control, Roboze Beltless technology and total process control, Roboze 3D printing is repeatable, automated and controlled, like any other industrial production process.

Roboze technology ecosystem comprises:

  • Patented “beltless” tech to print the most repeatable parts, wherever.
  • Roboze process optimized super polymers and composites
  • Cloud-based Printers management software which ensures use of Roboze materials

Thanks to this technological evolution in the 3D printing, the company has created Roboze Distributed Manufacturing, the new production and logistics model that brings 3D printing to the world of customized manufacturing.

Today, Roboze printed thousands of parts, demonstrating the uniqueness of this service: parts tolerances repeatability and metal replacement performance whenever, wherever.

A part printed in Houston is exactly the same to a part printed in Singapore.

With this model Roboze wants to connect demand with supply, creating a distributed production model, which allows to produce avoiding waste, reducing shipments, reducing CO2 emissions and bringing production back to the point of use.

  • Prometheus Software Introduced at Rapid + TCT lncreases Digital Production and Parts Performance

Roboze, the Italian-American provider of 3D printing solutions dedicated to the production and rapid prototyping of accurate, repeatable parts for extreme, end-use metal replacement applications, has launched Prometheus, a robust slicing software that dramatically increases the productivity of its customers. The software, developed by Roboze’s software engineering team, was unveiled today at this year’s Rapid + TCT event.

The development of the Prometheus software empowers Roboze customers with a complete, simple, and intuitive 3D printing software solution for end-to-end workflow management, from the first stages of design through final production of the printed part. Prometheus was designed with a user-friendly interface and cutting-edge features to increase digital production and parts performance from Roboze 3D Printers. The technology behind Prometheus was developed to specifically consider the robust performance capabilities of the machines and the intrinsic characteristics of Roboze’s specially developed, high-performance super polymers and composite printing materials. The software allows users to easily and quickly create a stable, secure 3D printing code in just a few clicks, and it works across the most popular browsers in the world, including Chrome and Edge.

“We want our customers to extract the maximum performance from our machines and, at the same time, experience improved print preparation operations, starting from the first slicing phase,” said Alessio Lorusso, Founder & CEO of Roboze. "We worked continuously for two years to develop software that matches the quality of our printers and provides added value to our customers."

"Our customers and their experiences informed the development of Prometheus, which dramatically simplifies the printing process and increases the performance of Roboze printers. The solution provides greater accuracy and repeatability to parts produced with the best-performing super polymers and composite materials in the market," said Antonio Pastore, Head of Engineering at Roboze. “Just as 3D printers are constantly evolving, software must also evolve and accelerate ongoing hardware and automation enhancements. I am very proud of the results of this technological achievement, which addresses and overcomes all of the limitations of other software products in the market."

The Prometheus brand name was inspired by the mythological character Prometheus, who defied the gods by stealing fire and giving it to humanity. The software will be available to all current and future Roboze customers at the end of this year.

  • ARGO 500 is the first 3D printer for super polymers and composites equipped with the Roboze Automate technological ecosystem, which brings industrial automation to 3D printing. Thanks to the combination of hardware, advanced sensors, B&R PLC control, Roboze Beltless technology and total process control, Roboze 3D printing is repeatable, automated and controlled, like any other industrial production process.

ARGO 500 has been designed to produce finished parts using the highest performing super polymers and composites of the entire sector, monitoring the management of the material, from hygroscopic control to drying and preheating, up to the gradual cooling phase of the produced part. Everything is designed to achieve extraordinary mechanical performance.

    Speed and repeatability

The patented Roboze Beltless system has made the use of rubber belts in 3D printers obsolete, replacing them with racks and pinions, thus achieving the mechanical accuracy typical of a machine tool. Beltless technology, combined with the B&R industrial automation system, increases production speed, precision and repeatability of the printed parts.

    Integration into production

ARGO 500 is the first 3D printer for super polymers equipped with PLC technology from B&R (ABB Group). Roboze and B&R have collaborated to bring for the first time industrial automation into 3D printing systems dedicated to metal replacement, making ARGO 500 integrate and communicate with the entire production workflow in smart factories.

    Metal Replacement

Roboze has introduced on the market super polymers and composites suitable for the replacement of metal alloys in environments where high temperatures, high chemical resistance and mechanical properties are required. Thanks to industrial partnerships such as the one with Solvay, Roboze has helped hundreds of companies to change production methods and replace metals, optimizing time and costs.

    Automated control

In ARGO 500, all the process variables are controlled in a completely automatic way, eliminating the manual operations and the experience required by the operator - from the leveling of the build plate to the calibration of the extruder, from the insertion and automatic change of filament up to the functions of drying and preheating of the material. Everything is automated and controlled.

    Process certification

Thanks to the powerful B&R industrial computer it is equipped with, the ARGO 500 controls, analyzes and stores all the information and parameters used in the production process. The system, at the end of each print cycle, creates a data log recorded automatically in the internal memory. This allows the certification of every single part.

    Communication and maintenance

ARGO 500 is equipped with remote maintenance modules to analyze possible anomalies and to reduce the possibility of downtime for the advantage of productivity. The remote management feature includes the automatic sending of software updates to allow the ARGO 500 to evolve over time, acquiring new features, parameters and intelligence.

  • Ideal for the production of tools (tooling) and functional components with the possibility of using technopolymers that ensure excellent performance, such as PEEK, Carbon PEEK and Carbon PA, Roboze One+400 Xtreme aims at accelerating the manufacturing processes with finished and functional parts to replace metals with a system that is closer to the needs of the manufacturing world.

This solution has a positioning accuracy of 15 µm (0.6 mil) thanks to the patented Beltless System which makes Roboze 3D printers the most precise in the world. A direct mechatronic movement of the X and Y axes, which uses helical gear pinions and racks, educating the mechanics in 3D printing to real micrometric tolerances. Repeatability is also ensured by the patent pending automatic calibration of the Z-axis. The system allows you to identify and set the machine zero - i.e., the position of the extruder with respect to the printing surface independent from the type of extruder used and/or its wear, or the polymeric printing accessories, maintaining a uniform distance throughout the printing area.

Roboze One+400 Xtreme is controlled by an advanced sensor system that allows to immediately and automatically correct any errors during the printing phase for controlled production and a percentage of printing failure near to zero.

High temperature polymers and composite materials with very high mechanical, chemical and thermal performance, capable of replacing metals in extreme applications. Supported by a thermal control system for the management and preparation of Roboze super polymers, the integrated Heat Treatment Process, consisting of a dryer designed and produced by the company, increases the quality of printed parts while accelerates the production times thank to the automated filament loading.

Roboze guarantees repeatability of the 3D printing production process, process control, compliance with tolerances and high production quality standards. This is possible by printing the highest performing composites and polymers of the entire industry.
