Ulendo Technologies, Inc. provides innovative software solutions for manufacturing automation.

At RAPID 2022, we are launching Ulendo FBS, ground-breaking software that enables 3D printer OEMs to supercharge the performance of their printers (FDM/FFF, DED and some PBF).

Ulendo FBS is a patented vibration compensation software solution. Our customers typically achieve improvements of 2X in print speed and 10X in acceleration over the performance of their existing firmware -- without sacrificing quality. Ulendo’s technical team works with your engineers to seamlessly integrate our software into your controller, thereby providing to speed and accuracy benefit to your 3D printer users.

  • The company’s vibration compensation software, FBS, addresses quality and speed issues that still plague the 3D printing industry.

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (May 17, 2022) — Ulendo, a University of Michigan (U-M) startup is announcing the commercial availability of FBS, a vibration compensation software solution for 3D printer OEMs.

Widespread adoption of 3D printing for manufacturing has been slowed by quality and speed issues. When a 3D printer is operated at a high speed, it vibrates, creating potential quality issues with the part, resulting in lost time and materials.

Ulendo’s FBS vibration compensation software is now available to 3D printer OEMs who want to address the vibration issue and provide significant speed and quality benefits to their end users. When a 3D printer manufacturer installs Ulendo FBS onto their printer’s controller, the printer can print at 2x the speed and 10x the acceleration, with no loss of quality. These spectacular results have been independently verified by 3D printer manufacturers.  The solution is best suited for desktop and industrial 3D printers that require fast motion of a printhead using a mechanical drive system (e.g., FFF/FDM, DED and PBF).

With Ulendo FBS, the vibration profile of a 3D printer model is first calibrated using a proprietary mapping technique. This calibration map is then used to modify stepper commands in real time without adding any hardware to the machine.

This breakthrough technology will be demonstrated on industrial printers at RAPID+TCT, North America’s largest Additive Manufacturing event being held in Detroit, Michigan May 17-19, 2022.  At the conference, Ulendo’s founder, Professor Chinedum ‘Chi’ Okwudire, will discuss how “smart” technologies being developed at the University of Michigan’s Smart and Sustainable Automation Laboratory improve quality and productivity in Additive Manufacturing. Among other technologies, he will describe SmartScan, an intelligent scanning approach to minimize thermal induced defects in laser powder bed fusion.

“Since we launched Ulendo, we have seen increased customer traction with several key Additive Manufacturing partners showing interest in our technology. We will be showcasing our latest commercial partner’s printers at the RAPID+TCT show,” said Ulendo CEO, Brenda Jones.

    About RAPID + TCT
For more than 30 years, SME and RAPID has defined the crucial role of additive manufacturing and empowered the establishment of an industry that continues to conceive, test, improve and manufacture new products at a faster, more cost-efficient pace. In 2017, the two industry leaders in 3D technology events, SME and The TCT Group, partnered to produce the annual RAPID + TCT event. For users and suppliers alike, the event is the premier destination for those who provide technology and for those who need to understand, explore and adopt 3D printing, additive manufacturing, 3D scanning, CAD/CAE, metrology and inspection technologies.
