Maximize costly metal powder use and avoid risks when handling metal powders while keeping the manufacturing operation running at peak efficiency with PowTReX, Volkmann’s next generation system for additive manufacturing. The PowTReX range is designed specifically to provide safe transfer, recovery and extraction and return-to-use of materials with high bulk densities at high rates. PowTReX is capable of handling metals and materials such as tungsten, cobalt, silver powder, iron, stainless steel, alumina, nickel chrome, copper, chrono K20, with bulk densities ranging from 93 to 500 lbs/ft3.  It operates at screening throughputs of above 1100 lbs/hr for stainless steel, and above 660 lbs/hr for aluminum powder. The units work in both a normal air environment and, where necessary, under inert gas with O2 levels typically between 2% and 4%. Where inert transfer is required, the system is designed in a “closed loop” so that inert gas is both contained and reused, avoiding the additional cost of large volumes of inert gas. temperature and containment.

    New Additive Manufacturing Equipment

Automatically Transfers Metal Powders for 3D Printing,

Screens and Blends Virgin Material with Used – Booth #1108

Volkmann PowTReX Advanced Recovers Used Metal Powder for Reuse

Bristol, PA: 3D printing equipment manufacturer Volkmann USA, Bristol, PA (https://www.volkmannusa.com), has introduced the PowTReX Advanced. Developed to promote and streamline the reuse of invaluable metal powders, the new PowTReX Advanced enables 3D printing companies to automatically transfer virgin metal powders from containers, extract used powder from 3D printers, screen to a desired particle size, and blend the used powder with virgin material in an adjustable ratio for reuse. The contained system allows material previously discarded as waste to be reused as viable metal powder for direct savings on material costs while safeguarding workers from potentially toxic exposure and protecting the material from contamination.

The latest in the company's PowTReX series of metal powder transfer and recovery systems, the PowTReX Advanced expands on the Standard PowTReX unit, which pioneered the automated transfer and recovery of metal powders for 3D printing, and the PowTReXi, which creates a contained, inert gas environment for conditioning the powder for printing. The self-contained metal powder handling systems are proven in conveying and recovering aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, copper, and other reactive and non-reactive metals, with screening throughputs ranging from 300 – 500 kg/hr.

The Standard PowTReX system is to be shown at Volkmann's booth #1108 at Rapid + tct booth from May 17 – 19, 2022 in Detroit, Michigan. Presentations may be scheduled at the booth in advance by calling 609.265.0101.

Conveying Equipment Manufacturer to Showcase Metal Powder Transfer and Recovery System at Rapid + tct

Volkmann PowTReX Automatically Transfers, Recovers Unused Metal for Reuse

Bristol, PA: At Rapid + tct booth #1108 from May 17 – 19, 2022, conveying equipment manufacturer Volkmann USA, Bristol, PA (https://www.volkmannusa.com), plans to showcase its automated PowTReX metal powder transfer and recovery system. To be on hand at the booth, the PowTReX conveying system automatically transfers metal 3D printing powders from a container or supply hopper to one or more printers then unloads, screens, and returns unused material back into the process for reuse. The powder transfer system is explosion-proof by design and suitable for hazardous and non-hazardous materials with bulk densities up to 400 lbs/ft3.

Developed to offer a safe, fast, and efficient method of metal powder transfer and recovery, the PowTReX system features the company's patented vacuum technology that generates a gentle, reliable conveying action capable of achieving high throughputs to 1,100 lbs./hr. while protecting particle integrity. The fully enclosed system eliminates the potential for powder spillage and contamination and protects workers from exposure to and contact with toxic materials.
