 Press Releases

  • Specifically designed to add robotic welding capacity to current production, the six-axis HC10XP human-collaborative robot enables operation with, or in close proximity to human workers. Easily repurposed depending on production needs, this versatile robot is ideal for supplementing manual welding or for rolling up to large, heavy workpieces. The HC10XP features a 10 kg payload and a 1,200 mm reach.

Meeting established safety standards (TUV-certified to ISO 13849-1; complies with ISO 10218-1 and ISO TS 15066), the HC10XP features Power and Force Limiting (PFL), where dual channel torque sensors in all joints constantly monitor force to quickly react. The HC10XP also offers precision hand-guiding, facilitating easy programming for fast implementation of a robot system.

Designed with the utmost safety, the pinch-less HC10XP can operate without additional protective measures (risk assessment dependent) such as a safety fence, resulting in reduced cost and space requirements. Through-arm utilities hide cabling, including a Category 6 ethernet cable that enables communications for a wide variety of tooling options. This reduces the risk of snagging or interference with other equipment.

The highly repeatable HC10XP can easily shift between collaborative speed in PFL mode or full speed in industrial mode (up to 2,000 mm/s based on payload), optimizing cycle times based on risk assessment and process requirements. Robot path teaching can be accomplished by hand guiding, teach pendant or jogging with an external device using I/O control. Built with cast aluminum for industrial durability, the HC10XP features a rugged IP67 rating to reliably operate in harsh welding environments, as well as an easy-clean surface.

The HC10XP is compatible with Miller® Auto-Continuum™ 350 or 500, Lincoln Power Wave® with ArcLink™ and semi-automatic power sources with I/O control of trigger switch. It is available with Yaskawa’s Universal Weldcom Interface (UWI) that enables full control of any compatible power source brand using a common interface, as well as a variety of third-party torches, tooling and accessories.

The HC10XP is controlled by the high-performance YRC1000 controller that is built to a global standard and does not require a transformer for input voltages ranging from 380VAC to 480VAC. With a highly compact cabinet (598 W x 490 H x 427 D mm), the YRC1000 uses a lightweight teach pendant with intuitive programming.

  • Featuring precise hand-guided teaching for fast implementation of a robot system, the new 20 kg payload HC20XP collaborative robot is well-suited for applications where robots need to safely work with, or in close proximity to humans.

The industry’s first IP67-rated collaborative robot, the HC20XP is equipped for continuous use in damp or splash-prone environments. Made of cast aluminum for durability, this model features an easy-to-clean surface, allowing utilization in sanitary environments where wipe or wash is required. NSF H1 certified food-grade grease is included as standard, enabling use in settings where there is a possibility of incidental food contact.

The HC20XP features a 1,700 mm maximum reach, making it ideal for a broad range of material handling, machine tending or assembly tasks. This impressive range also enables the HC20XP to reach full 80-inch pallets without requiring an elevator or lift mechanism.

The HC20XP meets established safety standards: TUV Rheinland Certified Compliance with EN ISO 10218-1:2011; validated to EN ISO 13849:2008; complies with TS15066:2016. The HC20XP with included Functional Safety Unit (FSU) offers all four modes of collaborative operation, including Power and Force Limiting (PFL), where dual channel torque sensors in all joints constantly monitor force to quickly and safely react to contact. Designed for the utmost safety, the HC20XP features a pinch-less design, while through-arm utilities hide cabling, reducing risks of snagging or interference with other equipment.

The HC20XP can easily shift between collaborative and non-collaborative operating modes during automatic operation to help achieve the perfect balance between speed and safety based on risk assessment and process requirements. It can operate without additional protective equipment (risk assessment dependent) resulting in reduced cost and space requirements.

Function-specific tooling and accessories are available from various Yaskawa partners. A through-arm Category 6 cable enables a wide variety of communication options for tooling.

The HC20XP robot is compatible with the standard teach pendant or the Smart Pendant, as well as Yaskawa’s YRC1000 controller or the ultra-compact, yet powerful, YRC1000micro controller, which can be installed vertically, horizontally, or mounted in a standard 19” equipment rack.

  • The next generation of robot programming, Smart Pendant radically changes the way a robot is programmed, providing simplified programming and fast implementation. Its easy-to-understand, tablet-based interface offers a simple learning curve compared to the standard pendant and is ideal for novice robot programmers.

Smart Pendant readily adapts to the user’s style for easy operation. Its patented, built-in Smart Frame technology determines the user’s orientation relative to the robot. This eliminates the use of conventional coordinate (X,Y,Z) frames and utilizes human coordinate references for easy command of robot movement.

Smart Pendant features automatic programming feedback which can reduce programmer errors, and its quick error recovery can reduce costly downtime. The Smart Pendant interface displays relevant information during playback allowing users to easily monitor variables, positions and I/O during runtime.

Smart Pendant offers a variety of features to simplify programming efforts, including:

    • Descriptive commands that alleviate the need to memorize abbreviations
    • A favorites bar to capture commonly used commands for easy access
    • Touch-to-edit functionality for job editing
    • Uniquely designed Command Builder that guides the user to insert commands
    • A detailed, built-in help and how-to instructions that eliminate the need for hard copy manuals

Capable of delivering quick robotic implementation for a variety of handling applications, Smart Pendant is available for use with select Yaskawa Motoman YRC-controlled robots.

Smart Pendant includes Yaskawa Soft Pendant software, a digital version of the YRC1000 pendant that can be run on a Windows® operating system.
