 Press Releases

  • Raleigh, NC, August 23, 2019 — This week WISER Systems, Inc. moved into its own new headquarters in downtown Raleigh, NC. This new location will accommodate WISER’s growing team and set the groundwork for additional growth in the coming months.

With its new offices less than a mile from the North Carolina State Capitol, WISER’s base of operations has not moved far. The larger space will, however, allow WISER to sustain more long term growth, including expansions in staff, lab and test space, and in the scope of customer projects.

“This is an exciting step for us, especially since we’ve outgrown two different office suites since launching our first product two years ago,” WISER CEO Dr. Elaine Rideout said. “This is a big step for us, and we’re so excited to have a dedicated building. It’s great to know we’ll be in one place for a while where we can continue to expand as a company.”

Earlier this year WISER joined entrepreneur Scott Wingo’s Triangle Tweeners list—a list of tech companies that a) are headquartered in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park corridor, and b) have reached requisite milestones in sales or employee numbers to advance the company beyond the startup stage.

Since then WISER has also grown significantly in terms of customer sales and retention. WISER’s customer base grew by more than 50% just in the first two quarters of 2019. Customers include 10% of the Fortune 100 companies. WISER’s customer retention is also extremely high, with nearly 50% of customers returning for additional services and products.

“We can always do more to meet market needs, enhance our Locator system, and be a better company,” said Rideout. “But moving to a new location in many ways reminds us that we have big goals for WISER—and that we’re on our way to reaching them.”

WISER Systems saves time and money by locating and tracking critical assets in real time. Powered by ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, WISER’s real-time location system (RTLS) allows customers to locate tagged assets with submeter accuracy—and often within a few inches. Early adopters include world leaders in aerospace, automotive manufacturing, retail, shipping and packaging, and the U.S. Military.

  • RALEIGH, N.C. (May 29, 2019) — WISER Systems, Inc., a developer of innovative ultra-wideband wireless mesh location and asset tracking systems, has been chosen by NASA as a top 10 finalist in the Space Technology Mission Directorate’s (STMD) iTech competition announced this week. Having already advanced past the competition’s first global round to the semifinals last week, WISER is the only North Carolina-based technology company to reach the final round in the space agency’s competition designed to recognize innovative technologies and products that could potentially be used in future manned missions to Mars and the moon.

WISER’s ultra-wideband (UWB) mesh locator technology delivers real-time asset visibility by displaying inches-accurate asset locations and movement histories in even the most challenging locations without the need for permanent infrastructure. WISER’s wireless localization system autonomously locates and tracks critical assets in any environment, and its lightweight components make the system ideal for space applications. WISER’s iTech submission focused on how the technology could be employed across on-earth and on-craft space exploration use cases.

“We’re thrilled to have been chosen by NASA as a finalist and honored to be recognized among these leading space-age innovators,” said WISER CEO Dr. Elaine Rideout. “Though we’ve been working in aerospace settings since we launched our first product, this competition has allowed us to explore some dynamic new applications for our technology. It’s exciting to look at how NASA could utilize our work.”

Joining nine other competition finalists who were specifically selected for their potential to assist with future manned missions to Mars and the moon, WISER will present live to space industry leaders at the 2019 NASA iTech Cycle I Forum, which will take place July 10–11 in Pasadena, California. NASA judges will then choose three winners in the competition’s final round.

The finalists represent many different industries and technologies across the United States and Europe, including cutting-edge innovators in augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and wearable technology.

According to NASA’s website, the iTech competition represents the STMD’s focus on innovative ideas that address challenges and will fill gaps in five critical areas identified by NASA as having a potential impact on future exploration. These five areas are: medical breakthroughs, high-performance computing, autonomy, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence. iTech also invited competitors with “x-factor innovations” for “unspecified future challenges.”

“NASA iTech provides the opportunity for companies to engage with NASA center chief technologists, investors, and industry leaders so they can continue to make an impact on Earth and in space,” Program Executive Kira Blackwell said in NASA’s official announcement of the finalists. “These interactions between NASA, industry, and entrepreneurs are valuable for the entire community.”

The NASA iTech announcement marks WISER’s second placement in a major technology competition in the past year. WISER recently secured Phase I, II, and III prizes, advancing to the top 12 nationally in the U.S. Army’s inaugural xTechSearch competition, which concluded in March of 2019.

    About WISER Systems, Inc.
WISER Systems’ innovative ultra-wideband (UWB) mesh network asset location systems employ Redundant Radio Localization & Tracking (RRLT) technology to deliver precision (sub-meter or inch-level) coordinate-based positioning data within a defined perimeter in real time to a computer or handheld device. WISER’s RRLT mesh network is accurate even in cluttered, metallic, noisy, or active manufacturing environments where conventional tracking technologies perform poorly. The systems auto-calibrate, are lightweight, portable, and can be deployed in minutes, indoors or out, without the need for an engineer or electrician. WISER’s locator applications include: autonomous inventory, real-time security, process management, autonomous navigation, smart homes, sports technology, sensor locating, and more. WISER Systems’ products are manufactured in the USA.

    About NASA iTech
NASA continues to seek out innovation that provides unique solutions to difficult problems. NASA iTech was created to not only identify breakthrough technologies that address pressing issues here on Earth, but ones that also hold great promise in overcoming critical space-exploration challenges. All ingenuity is welcome, whether generated by business, academia and government organizations, or by any others who wish to make their leading-edge products and processes known to NASA leadership and agency partners in the private and public sectors.

  • WISER's Micro-Location System
WISER's micro-location system delivers immediate asset visibility in almost any environment....

  • ONE: Deploy WISER Antenna Nodes to establish a wireless mesh network. This ultra-wideband (UWB) mesh does not rely on or interfere with WiFi, Cellular, BLE, or any other wireless system. WISER’s straightforward setup allows you to adjust the mesh on your own for optimal convenience and performance.

TWO: Attach WISER Tracker Tags to whatever asset you'd like to track. This could be a forklift, a pallet, a wearable, or even something as small as an individual bottle. All tags within the mesh register their real-time status by pinging regularly. Tags run on battery power and can last for years at a time without needing maintenance.

THREE: WISER's Locator software displays tracking data on a facility map or floorplan. Custom software integration via WISER's API allows this data to trigger exception alerts like perimeter breaches, time-sensitive warnings, or violations of other parameters. Software integration can also plug data directly into inventory management, process control dashboards, ERPs, or other internal systems.

WISER's UWB asset tracking solutions drive value across a number of use-cases both indoors and out. In-use solutions include: maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO); manufacturing; energy; security; logistics; retail; and many others.
