Myostat Motion Control recently announced the new EtherCAT bridge for Cool Muscle Integrated servos. The bridge connects to any EtherCAT network, and provides up to 4 axis of servo control. The EtherCAT bridge opens up the opportunity to utilize smaller, cost effective closed loop motion axis within your machine replacing under-performing stepper motors or motors that are beyond the control of your EtherCAT Master controller.
By placing the EtherCAT hardware within the bridge, Muscle Corp. has kept the size of the intelligent motor to a minimum. This is ideal for use in parallel robotic applications, SCARA and other types of robotic arms, and multi-axis positioning systems with tight space envelope constraints. I/O can be wired directly to the motors on-board controller, and controlled by the EtherCAT master, distributing cabling and reducing the cost associated with DIN mount I/O modules.
