 Press Releases

  • Tradition and innovation come together in the heart of Europe – in Czech manufacturing. At this year’s CMTS, the Czech Republic is showcasing high-tech solutions by the companies TOS Varnsdorf, Sanezoo, Fillamentum, JHV Solutions and Mainware, illustrating the advanced stage of engineering and automation that can be found in the Czech Republic.

Strong focus on R&D and business-friendly environment have allowed the Czech knowledge-based economy to thrive and attract major foreign players like Siemens, ABB or Honeywell. The Czech Republic is the most industrialized country in the EU and the second country in the world most specialized in industrial machinery, equipment, and tools, with more than 126 thousand workers employed in the sector and over 5200 active Czech machinery companies. Every year, more than 3,500 mechanical engineering graduates enter the workforce with outstanding levels of expertise building on 300 years of academic engineering education in the Czech lands.

The tradition combined with excellent engineering is illustrated at CMTS by the company TOS Varnsdorf, a world leader in the development and production of machine tools and a range of related services and accessories. Among the key products can be found machine tools for precise milling, coordinate boring, precise drilling, gear cutting, thread cutting including in heavy and structurally difficult work-pieces. The precision and reliability are combined with the modern trends including remote diagnostics, with more than 500 customers’ machines connected this year.

Overall, the Czech Republic has actively responded to the global trends in manufacturing with implementation of Industry 4.0, additive manufacturing technologies and automation, with increasing synergies between the academia and the private sector. Czech universities produce more than a hundred graduates in AI every year, top-notch facilities have been built in the country such as the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics and the Czech Republic surpasses the world average in robotization with 135 robots per 10,000 manufacturing workers.

At CMTS, the field of robotics in manufacturing production is showcased by the Czech company Sanezoo that specializes in key workloads replacing monotonous work that had to be done by operators. It relies on outstanding machine vision and artificial intelligence in bin picking and inspection applications. The company’s solutions help evaluate surfaces of any kind, the robotic guidance and bin picking are addressed by passive stereo vision combined with proprietary AI methods.

Automation and AI are also the cornerstones of the activities at the companies JHV and Mainware, which are at the top of the automation market. JHV has applied consulting and revolutionary products for maintenance and automation in over 500 projects across continents including Europe, Asia and North America. The company Mainware provides solutions combining Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence for repairs, maintenance and staff trainings. It completely replaces paper documentation and enables the business to become a Smart Factory in the standard of Industry 4.0.

The Czech Republic also leads the way in 3D printing. Fillamentum presented at CMTS is the number one company worldwide in high-tech 3D-printing filaments, with distribution in more than 62 countries. Named the Best Global Exporter in Export prize DHL Unicredit in 2018, the company has its own R&D department and implements automatization and robotization in its production.
