Tech-Access Canada is a national, non-profit organization passionate about expanding the reach of its 70 NSERC-funded Technology Access Centres (TACs) to make their R&D support services accessible to all entrepreneurs and innovators across Canada and contributing to the development of a more inclusive innovation economy. A Technology Access Centre (TAC) is a state-of-the-art applied research and innovation centre, affiliated with a Canadian college or cégep, that provides companies with access to cutting-edge technology and equipment, as well as a multi-disciplinary team with the expertise to turn brilliant ideas into market-ready products. TACs offer value-added R&D and innovation services to Canadian businesses—particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—to develop new prototypes, scale-up processes and solve unique business challenges. They also provide customized training for industry to upgrade technical skills, and de-risk the financial investment of implementing new equipment and adopting emerging technologies. They aim to generate innovation and productivity results, while enhancing the competitiveness of their industry partners. TACs featured at the exhibit: GÉNIElab at La Cité InnovaCité GÉNIElab helps drive innovation within organizations through an integrated approach that combines expertise in artificial intelligence, electromechanics and prototyping. This applied research laboratory at Collège La Cité is a strategic partner that offers businesses multidisciplinary expertise to help them tackle technological challenges and bring their projects to success. The highly qualified team brings together expertise in artificial intelligence (computer vision, natural language processing, data analysis) and electromechanical engineering (fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and more) to transform ideas into concrete solutions. Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (WAMIC) at Niagara College Niagara College’s Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre team specializes in engineering design, 3D laser scanning technologies, lean manufacturing processes and additive manufacturing. We work with Southern Ontario businesses to bring ideas to life, from concept through to developing working prototypes, and utilizing leading-edge technology, including equipment and software. Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing Technology Access Centre (CIM-TAC) at Red Deer Polytechnic The Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing Technology Access Centre (CIM-TAC) turns leading edge ideas into reality by collaborating with our clients on innovative manufacturing solutions. As a Technology Access Centre located on the Red Deer Polytechnic campus, the CIM-TAC is a key hub of the central Alberta innovation community. We focus on product and process development, improvement through innovative technical services, and applied research projects.
