    Every stamping project is different. Selecting the correct tool steel, coating and surface finish can improve tool life, reduce downtime and ultimately lower manufacturing costs. The Impax Tooling Solutions® division of Wilson Tool International has nine coating technologies engineered to help stampers achieve higher performance.

    • Optima® – a proprietary coating designed for piercing, blanking and trimming
    • Optimax® – a multi-layer coating with an Optima® base and a second layer of molybdenum disulfide for added lubricity
    • Wearbeater – a PVD coating used for piercing, blanking and forming applications in softer materials
    • TiCrN – a nano layer coating for piercing in high pressure forming applications
    • TiAlN (AITiN) – a hard coating for high-heat applications
    • TiZrN – a wear resistant coating for piercing and forming of non-ferrous materials
    • AlCrN – a chromium composition well-suited to high impact applications
    • Forte® – a proprietary multi-layer nano coating for punching and forming high-strength, low-alloy steel in all thicknesses
    • Slip-Max® – a low friction, multi-layer coating that greatly reduces material adhesion

    XSharp Grinder

    Sharpening tooling is simple and fast with the innovative XSharp™ grinder from the Impax Tooling Solutions® division of Wilson Tool International. Suitable for all tooling styles, the fully automated XSharpgrinder provides optimal precision and an excellent surface finish on sharpened tools. It is simple to program and use with automatic height detection, wheel wear compensation and a user-friendly touch screen controller. The benefits of accurate regrinding include:

    • Longer tool life for reduced tooling costs
    • Reduced scrap or wasted material due to tooling malfunction
    • Reduced wear on springs, die and press

  • Fully Automated Grinding Process

    • Simple to operate and requires no previous grinding experience.

    • Touchscreen controller has user-friendly multi-language interface for easy operation. Interface language can be selected during machine setup.

    • The automated height detection feature automatically locates the top of any tool mounted in the chuck before the grinding cycle begins.

    • Automatic grinding wheel wear compensation makes up for any grinding wheel wear.

    Suitable for Most Tooling Styles: With a flexible range of chucks and adapters, the XSharp can be used to sharpen most any tooling up to 6.3" A DIM.

    Precision: uses an AC-servo motor driving a precision gear and ball screw with dual linear guides and four carriers to provide highly stable bearing properties.

    Shear Grinding: Punches with shears can be sharpened using the XSharp shear grinding chuck. Coolant: Equipped with a powerful closed coolant system, XSharp ensures the tool is constantly flooded with coolant during the grinding process.

    Interlocking Safety Guard: equipped with a safety guard that opens and closes automatically

    Frame: a heavy-duty cast-iron frame for durability & stability
