Augmented-Reality Vision System
Leading aerospace and fabrication companies are implementing LYNX Vision Technology to reduce cost and increase efficiency when producing large components and structures. LYNX is a vision-based assembly aid that can also automatically detects non-conforming issues. The system is capable of checking both large scale assembly processes and checking small features up to 10 meters away. The system uses Artificial Intelligence to compare a set of reference images and images of the item being inspected. Any deviations between the images are immediately identified as a potential compliance issue. By identifying these problems early in the manufacturing process, the problems can be resolved quickly and easily, thus eliminating costly re-work.
The new LYNX AR adds Augmented Reality assembly functions to the inspection capabilities of the original LYNX system. It helps operators install components such as brackets, clips, standoffs, etc. so the right feature will be in the proper location and orientation. Detailed color images are projected for each part at the proper location with assembly instructions. This will greatly reduce assembly time and ensures accuracy in the production process. After the assembly process is complete, the system can be used in its original capacity to automatically inspect and document the as-built condition. The system will generate an inspection report that document the proper installation of all the components. The system can be quickly reprogrammed to accommodate production processes which have frequent design changes.
