Lesta robots can suck-out or blow-off trapped water on parts during paint prep. Just as the robot is programmed for painting, finishing line attendants guide the robot through the appropriate sequence to ensure the moisture is dealt with.

Lesta has announced its entry into the U.S. market as LestaUSA to allow manufacturers to incorporate robotic painting technology without the need for programming.

With its roots in Italy, LestaUSA offers affordable technology for both liquid and powder coat applications. “Our robotic technology itself isn’t new,” said Derek DeGeest, President of LestaUSA. “What’s unique here is that LestaUSA’s proven technology is so simple that, upon completion of the installation, a manufacturer of any size can literally be making their own programs and painting robotically on Day One.”

Whereas other robotic painting technology requires engineers and robotic programmers, LestaUSA is self-learning and only needs your painter. Lesta robots go into a weightless learning mode while in the hands of a company’s best painter, who then performs the painting cycle on a desired part as the software creates its own robotic code of every movement and paint spray. The painter’s exact technique, including the application of the paint, is saved and then mirrored by the robot on future jobs.

LestaUSA offers a needed solution to eliminate moisture on parts by developing suction/blow-off robots using their new-to-North America finishing robotic technology.

“The presence of moisture on a part after exiting the dry-off oven is a major contributor to paint defects,” said Brad Ruppert, Paint Applications Specialist for LestaUSA. “Our Suction/Blow-off robots are simple to program to eliminate water pockets prior to entering the dry off oven during paint preparation.”

Most manufacturers that have a multi-stage wash for their coating operations struggle with getting rid of pockets of standing water even with the aid of a dry-off oven. Removing these pockets of water are costly with traditional methods; someone manually blowing off every part destined for the oven, re-engineering parts so that they contain more drain holes, or turning up the oven temperature to evaporate the standing water.

“Using LestaUSA Suction/Blow-off robots instead of traditional options will improve any operation’s efficiencies and bottom line,” said Derek DeGeest, President of LestaUSA. “We are currently taking pre-orders before the January 31, 2020 release date.
