 Press Releases

  • New Servo-Hydraulic Press Design to be Announced.

In Addition, Automation, Custom Applications and More will be Presented.

NASHUA, NH U.S.A. (August 6, 2019) – Greenerd Press & Machine Company will be exhibiting at FABTECH Booth #D45458, McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois on November 11-14, 2019. In addition to showcasing the company’s extensive hydraulic press and automation capabilities, application experts and design engineers from Greenerd will be available to discuss specific user applications and press requirements.

Greenerd will present unique hydraulic press application solutions at FABTECH this year, including announcing a new servo-hydraulic press design that meets all the demanding standards that customers have come to rely on in a Greenerd press including ease-of-use, high-quality and outstanding repeatability. This new design will incorporate an upgraded user interface that will allow operators to choose press functionality by selecting simple, icon-based cycle profiles. After receiving input, the press will automatically sets itself up for the selected operation, and custom press cycles can then be stored in over 1,000 different recipes and recalled in an instant with the use of an optional bar code reader.

"To meet the demands of today's challenging applications, we are providing fabricators with press solutions that are flexible, productive and reliable as well as often being quite large and complex," commented Greenerd Press & Machine Company’s CEO, Mr. Jerry Letendre. "For even greater manufacturing efficiency, we are able to provide our hydraulic press customers with turnkey, state-of-the-art robotic product handling solutions.”

Greenerd is a Tier 1 Industrial Authorized Robot System Integrator of FANUC America Corporation, the industry's leader in automated manufacturing equipment. The partnership gives Greenerd full access to the comprehensive offerings of FANUC Robots including all models, training and support, providing state-of-the-art automation solutions in short time frames. Complete, fully integrated production systems can be provided including simple raw material feeding systems, and robotic solutions including loading/ unloading the press, the ability to perform an optional secondary part manipulation or process, automated inspection of parts and stacking finished products for downstream processes. The scope of automation can also encompass part inspection systems, ranging from small sensors to complex camera inspections, and temperature monitoring/ control of press and non-press related systems. Streaming critical production data to and from the press is also offered.

Greenerd's extensive line of hydraulic presses are available in a variety of styles ranging from gap frame and straight-side to die-spotting and forging presses, with unlimited size and tonnage capabilities. Greenerd has a long tradition of designing, engineering and manufacturing customized hydraulic presses with product handling solutions.

  • Greenerd designed and manufactured a custom, complex double-moving platen deep draw hydraulic press, fully integrated w/ two 6-Axis FANUC robots that in addition to load/ unload, prompt the press to perform multiple operations to produce a heavy-duty high pressure cylinder tank. The horizontal four-post gib-guided press has a 750-ton cylinder main ram (adjustable down to 150 tons) with a 350-ton cushion (adjustable down to 70 tons). It weighs approx. 300,000 lbs. and has a powerful, compact control.  The deep draw hydraulic press has a 108" stroke capability and a 48" draw. Using a 350-ton cushion to clamp a blank between the main ram and the cushion platen, the main ram of 750 tons pushes the 100 lb./ 60" blank over a punch which is attached to the stationary platen and coins the part on the top before returning. The double-moving platen design allows the press to draw the long part at one speed and tonnage, and while still moving, switch to another speed and tonnage to coin the part properly. To retrieve the newly drawn part out of the press, a FANUC robot moves in between the double platens, and when in position, instructs the press when and at what velocity to extract the part.
