Schwarze-Robitec, founded in 1903, is one of the leading manufacturers of cold bending machines worldwide. The company develops and produces tube bending machines, fully equipped automatic tube bending production lines and bending tools, as well as tube perforating machines, measuring systems and solutions for special purpose machinery manufacture. As a producer, supplier and service provider all in one, all systems are quality products made in Germany. On the reference list, prestigious manufacturers can be found. The solutions are employed in the automotive, aerospace, shipbuilding and offshore industry as well as in chemical, energy and furniture industry and for heating and sanitary installations.

In the US, Schwarze-Robitec is present with a subsidiary, which was expanded in 2017. Since then, the North American service and distribution team has operated from Grand Rapids, Michigan, with close proximity to the Grand Rapids International Airport. The company occupies offices as well as a 2000 square feet spare parts warehouse, where the most important spare parts for the custom-made machines are stored. This allows to respond more quickly and reliably to service requests. Customers in North America and Mexico benefit from short delivery times for urgently needed parts.

At the Cologne headquarters, Schwarze-Robitec employs 100 people. To date, more than 3,000 machines have been sold – some of them have been used in production unrestrictedly for far more than 35 years.

    Amongst the features of the machine are an integrated fully electric cutting device and extended vertical transport carriage. This combination makes it possible to bend and cut tubes in a single work step, despite the machine featuring a multi-stack bending tool. A vertically adjustable pressure die moves to the different levels for bending synchronously with the tube. The intelligent NxG control prepares all axes during bending for subsequent steps. The Quick-Tool-Unlock tool changing system plus rapid clamping system for the bend former makes it easy to open and close the tension bars for tool changing

  • A high-volume production and high process reliability can be achieved with the aid of Schwarze-Robitec’s all electric tube cutting device which is directly integrated into the bending tool. Equipped with this feature, machines offer combined bending and cutting of fixed-length tube components in one single process step. Cuts can be made at different bending angles and simply be added to the bending program. The machines perform precise cuts on tubes of up to 6 inches in diameter – perfectly suited for manufacturers of large exhaust and piping systems as used in trucks, construction and agricultural machinery. Material waste per component is significantly reduced. All components can undergo further processing immediately. As longer tube units can be processed, too, the time required for loading and unloading the machine is reduced. Therefore, the fully electric cutting device guarantees a fast, resource-efficient, simple and user-friendly production process.

  • By enabling synchronized bending, Schwarze-Robitec’s intelligent NxG control system brings users a huge gain in efficiency for their tube bending processes. For each bending sequence, the control system automatically checks the interaction between all axes. It ensures that the movement sequences are optimally coordinated. This means that whilst a bending process is ongoing, the axes are already being prepared for the next bending sequences. With several axes being operated simultaneously, the production time for each bending process is reduced by up to 40 percent depending on the component and the desired tube geometry. The more complex the geometry of the tube to be bent, the more time is saved as a result of the axes moving simultaneously. This is a major advantage for suppliers in sectors such as the automotive industry where turnover times are key.

  • All multi stack bending machines by Schwarze-Robitec can be equipped with a vertically adjustable pressure die as an additional CNC axis. Powered by a ball screw and servomotor, this individual pressure die moves to the different bending levels synchronously to the tube. The pressure die acts as a counter bearing and absorbs the resulting forces. With an individual, height-adjustable pressure die, the contact pressure can be optimally gauged for each level. Another major advantage of the vertically adjustable pressure die is a significant reduction in tool costs. Users of a four stack bending machine, for example, only require one pressure die instead of four fixed pressure dies. In addition, the feature speeds up the tool changing process, helping to reduce refitting costs. Furthermore, users also profit from simpler handling. Instead of one big, heavy block for several bending levels, a lighter and compact component is used, which also requires less storage space.
