Index Designs is a US manufacturer of CNC 4th and 5th axis rotary tables and servo controllers serving industries such as aerospace, automotive, defense, energy, medical and others. When integrated to a typical 3 axis CNC machining center, our rotary tables add a multitude of 4th and/or 5th axis capabilities. Applications range from complex machining of impellers requiring true 5 axis synchronous contouring to simple point to point 4th axis indexing to any angle to allow machining multiple sides of a part. With over a dozen rotary tables to choose from, sizes range from small, 5C collet sized parts up to 15” diameter platters. Depending upon your machine configuration and application needs, we provide fully integrated solutions. Full 4th rotaries are built with motors compatible with your CNC machine control or for indexing only applications, we offer a single axis programmable control box that can be interfaced to a spare M-function for fully automatic operation. 

We will also be introducing the new patent pending Quindex, a simple, cost effective 5th axis indexing system that to allows cutting tools to access 5 sides of a part, all in one set-up.

  For 5-sided machining applications, Index Designs is pleased to introduce the "QUINDEX" 5^th-axis indexing system. The patent pending QUINDEX system is designed to quickly bolt to any existing 4^th-axis rotary table, allowing cutting tools to access 5 sides of a part, all in one set-up. 

  The QUINDEX drastically reduces part handling, and the number of setups while improving part accuracy and substantially increasing profit margins. With a QUINDEX, there's no need for expensive and complicated 5^th-axis rotary table integrations and interfaces. You don’t need a 5^th axis capable machine, just mount the QUINDEX to a 4^th-axis rotary table and connect standard shop air. A 90-degree index is triggered by an M-code written within the program of your CNC machine. The simple design utilizes a powerful rotary actuator that drives the 6.75” diameter spindle up against hard stops for super accurate positioning with 5 arc-seconds of repeatability and a pneumatic brake plate provides up to 250 ft./lbs. of holding torque to absorb heavy cuts.  And for worry-free dependability, there are no expensive servo motors, encoders, wiring or gears to ever repair or replace.

  Don't have an existing 4^th-axis to bolt the QUINDEX on to? No, problem!  Index Designs can provide you with a complete package for your machine. The total package includes the VH-6, 4^th axis rotary table, the Quindex air driven head including outboard support and air lines. All components are aligned and mounted on a subplate and can come as a true 4^th axis or as a semi 4^th axis when paired with the Index Designs programmable control box that can be activated automatically by a simple M-code. One more great benefit: Our 4th and 5th axis QUINDEX packages give you the flexibility to run the 4^th-axis all by itself as a true or simi 4th axis or in a matter of minutes you can bolt on the QUINDEX for 5-sided machining.
