Description

This interactive workshop presents an interdisciplinary, critical race spatial lens to explore cultural dimensions of space and spatial dimensions of exclusion. Drawing from her work with architecture firms, educational and public institutions, Amara will present how built environments reflect colorblind paradigms and communicate hidden messages that normalize racial and social inequities. An understanding of socio-spatial inequalities offers a new framework to understand local performing art centers, to disrupt the status quo, and to activate the potential of space to support equity and inclusion.
